The Possessive Personal Pronouns (PPP) in Lebanese have 2 different forms.
- Stand Alone (Independent) Possessive Personal Pronouns
- Suffixed Possessive Personal Pronouns
Haydi ssiyyaara la ili: Listen This car is mine
Haydi siyyaarti: Listen This is my car.
As you can see, “ili” is a stand alone pronoun. The suffixed PPP’s on the other hand require a different set of rules.
We have studied in Level 1, Lesson 7, how to create a possessive form of the noun:
Siyyaara: Listen becomes Siyyaarit Listen
We also learned that if you want to say “Sandra’s car”, you would say “Siyyaarit Sandra”. Listen
But if you want to say “Our car” “Siyyaaritna”, you will need to know how to use the suffixed personal pronouns capitalizing on this rule.
In this Lesson, we will examine the stand alone version of the PPP’s and we will look at the suffixed PPP’s in another lesson in this level.
